From a DM perspective what 5e needs is creature templates like from 3.5. A way to instantly flavor encounters would be super useful.
From a player perspective, Spirit Shaman would make a nice class option to have again.

Daggerheart ver.1.3 made some pretty significant changes. I get the feeling there are several mechanics they have backups for based on community feedback. I think they have several iterations of their system and are intelligently using their future player base to pin down what works best over all. That being said it makes it tough to sandbag any content for it.
